This is not a launch. We want 50 people in while things are still breaking.
The client
25 extension DLLs load on top of 3.3.5a. They teach the 2010 engine modern model,
terrain and world-object formats, modern texture compression, the newer data files
retail ships, and UI primitives Blizzard's 3.3.5a build never had. Character select
and creation were rebuilt rather than reskinned. You need a legally obtained 3.3.5a
client, build 12340, and nothing else — the launcher installs the rest and checks
every file it writes by hash.
The world
Azeroth 1–60, cross-faction, with level and quest scaling across the whole range.
1,199 daily call-board tasks — slay, gather, craft, quest, dungeon, elite. 95 elite
variants, so an elite is a different fight and not a bigger health bar. Outdoor
bosses are spawned by a module instead of standing in fixed places.
Your build is one string
Specialisation, talents, skill tree, Wake, Knell and Soul Codex are six parts of one
character. You can write the whole thing down, hand it to somebody, and they can
rebuild it exactly.
Three rules we hold ourselves to
No gates. A system is not locked behind a level, a zone, a group size or a
reputation. If it exists, you can play it while levelling.
Every choice is a trade. A node that only adds is a delay, not a decision — 27 of our
49 keystones were rewritten after a review found seven of them weren't trades at all.
Damage is categorised everywhere. 4,781 spells and 1,210 trait nodes say which damage
types they belong to and which they modify, so you can read a tooltip and reason
instead of testing by hand.
Playable now
Talent trees for all 31 specialisations, and pet talent trees for every pet — your
pet has points from level 1, sixteen by 60. Transmog wardrobe: 706 sets, 1,919
distinct items, over 30,000 catalogued appearances. 2,654 incarnations, forms and
companion skins. Prestige and paragon progression. Heirlooms, login rewards, level
rewards, reagent bank, XP lock, item-level bands, instance lockout reset, LFG board,
PvP ranks, leaderboards, travel network, weekly seasons. A gold shop with no real
money anywhere near it. Escrow trading, so two players can deal without trusting each
other. An in-game help centre with unstuck and item recovery, a bug reporter that
answers back, and Discord account linking.
Being rebuilt, and you will see the hole rather than a placeholder
The skill tree is mid-rebuild and says so in its own window. The Wake, Veilmark and
Mastery-form gates can be opened but have nothing behind them yet — we know exactly
which ones and they are being filled this week. The Great Vault is a front with no
back end and is listed here rather than up there. The ability-fusion layer was
retired today: it worked, and it was answering "how do I get a bigger number" and
nothing else.
Next, and the reason we want testers now
The Soul Codex. Every creature carries a soul. Kill it often enough and it gives up
its mark, then its own ability — the spell it was casting at you. 17,642 species are
reachable. Cross-checked against the client's own spell data, 20,086 creature-and-
ability pairs survive validation, and 5,919 distinct abilities are cast by creatures
you can actually find in the world. You carry three at a time, and how you kill
decides which version of the soul you get.
What we want from 50 testers
Break it. Duplicate something. Find the wall the engine hides. Tell us what feels bad,
not only what errors. Reports go through Discord and get triaged the same day, and the
fix is posted back to the thread that reported it.
